Arrival, the city and the fjord

Land at Gardermoen and settle into Sommerro before an unhurried first look at Oslo. Walk through Frogner and Vigeland Park, continue through the city centre, and spend the late afternoon along the harbour and Oslofjord. The day is deliberately light after the flight, with time for the Munch museum if the weather turns and dinner in Frogner.

The 1930s Oslo Lysverker building on Solli plass, restored as a hotel with a rooftop pool and the city's best bar. One night to shake off the flight.

Wood Hotel Bodø

A timber tower on the harbour, with a rooftop looking across the Vestfjord to the Lofoten wall. Two nights allow an easy arrival from Oslo and a full day in Bodø for the match.

Gimsøya, 68°N · 4 nights

Lofoten Links Lodges

Handsome sea-facing Nordic lodges a short drive from the first tee, with a wood-fired hot tub on the terrace and the midnight sun from every window. Not a grand hotel, and that is the point of the place.
